Awesome! He's really sticking it to the man by making the day of a civil servant (who probably already hates his job) even worse than usual, not to mention the people in line behind him who had to wait. Take that, government!
I understand that, and I totally don't support people doing something like that, it was just an interesting thought that popped into my head.

Protesting against the government is well and good, but I don't think this type of thing will really be noticed.
Dude, it's on the interwebs.

It's a good thought, and I support the idea of protesting. But yeah. :P

Oh yeah, and who's going to see it here? Dubya Bush? Tubey Stevens? Not likely! :)

<edit> ok, maybe Al Gore. MAYBE.

Nope. The Internet causes global warming--he doesn't want anything to do with it.

Only makes sense for them to have to accept legal tender otherwise what is the point in having legal tender?
The point is using as it's supposed to be used and not being an asshole.
But using shit how it's not supposed to be used and being an asshole, (coupled with wasting time and money), that's the American way! We need to stand up for our values and waste more.

The internet *does* cause global warming, probably a shitload of it. When you think of all the carbon put into the atmosphere from production of all the hardware for the network infastructure, computers that would never have been purchased if there wasn't an internet, the fuel burned to power everything, the cars of all the workers.... it's gotta be a shitload.

But Al Gore invented the Internet! He must use it!

iago, you cant just outlaw being a jerk otherwise we should be able to outlaw porn, queerism, and obscenity in general...but we have the Bill of Rights and the Constitution so we can't do that
Read my last post again.
Money is used to pay for things, yeah?
Bills are paid with money, yeah?
He paid his bills with his money, yeah?

Okey dokey.

Being an asshole isn't illegal or the internet would be empty
And that's why it's good to either have a law or convention dictating cases where you don't have to put up with assholes. Perhaps in the US, you're more accustomed to it? :P
In the US we can't have laws that dictate that you don't have to put up with someone because they're annoying, at least for big companies/federal agencies.  They have to deal with everyone.  I think only small businesses can refuse service based on "whatever the hell they may please" (like being black).

Like I said before.  You use money to pay for things (bills included).  This man used the money to pay his bills, therefore he used the money how it was meant to be used.

And I see pics of Al Gore on the Internet with his mega huge 23048234 inch Apple monitor TOTALLY killing the environment (huge screen + Apple = Al Gore is going to hell because smaller screen + Windows = more environmentally friendly)

If that's the biggest environmental problem Al Gore's made, he's doing pretty good.

What I don't understand is, who cares? It has nothing to do with this thread, it's just a random stab against Gore...

I didn't bring Gore up, just thought I'd throw it out there.  Also, I'm pretty sure Gore's house is less green the Bush's, but I'm gonna have to double check.  I know Gore is horribly unenvironmentally friendly, though

Who cares? If you hate Al Gore, go make an Al Gore thread. I only brought him up as a side-joke while talking about the uselessness of protesting like that.

I agree completely with the canadian here, not only does everybody hate this guy, he just wasted alot of everyone's time. I'm not against paying your bills with legal tender, but going out of your way to be an asshole like that is just wrong.

He wasn't going out of his way to be an ass, he went out of his way to prove a point

What point did he prove? That it's fun to waste civil servants' time?

He was totally being an ass and proved nothing.

I think like hitmen said, he illustrated the huge waste of govt and also allowed us to have some sort of grasp on how much $12k really is when we pay it in taxes

And like I replied to Hitmen, he succeeded in wasting the time of a civil servant and the people standing behind him. Woo.
