American History X
« on: September 17, 2007, 12:44:46 am »
Seriously one of the best movies I've ever seen. Terrific acting, terrific plot, terrific message. I'd have to give it a 10/10, but for a good ten minutes it lost momentum before it picked up at the end.

So, a 9.5/10 will do.

I'd bet that you're currently bloated like a water ballon on a hot summer's day.

That analogy doesn't even make sense.  Why would a water balloon be especially bloated on a hot summer's day? For your sake, I hope there wasn't too much logic testing on your LSAT.

Seriously, only Fight Club competes with this for 'best Edward Norton movie ever'.  Red Dragon gets honorable mention, but its still an Anthony Hopkins movie :P

I still haven't seen it.  I've heard pretty good things about it, but I didn't get the notion that it was a 9.5/10.  I guess I'll have to watch it.

Fight Club is awesome, but I consider that an Edward Norton/Brad Pitt movie.

Fight Club is eh. I liked the first half, up to the point where you figure out a certain thing happened which was plainly obvious for 45 minutes beforehand. From there it was all downhill for me.

Yeah, I figured out what was going on pretty early in the movie.  I still thought it was awesome, though. :P

Then how do you not like American History X? The whole point is to show the problems with Neo-Nazism.

It was mentioned in this thread a couple times, for one thing. I haven't seen this movie either, but I thought that was pretty obvious from the other posts.

And incidentally, that kind of response doesn't illicit any feelings of sympathy. Rather than getting mad, you should just point out that it's inappropriate, and one of the leaders may opt to split it to the trash if they agree.

He kills his brother at the end. The movie for me anyways brought me up to hate black people, then towards the end show how race dosent matter if your in prison, then a black guy shoots the kid.

And like a fool I believed myself, and thought I was somebody else...
