Apparently, yesterday, the Canadian dollar passed the American dollar. While I'm posting this, Google Finance says the Canadian dollar is worth $0.999 USD.

It was only a couple years ago that our dollar was worth about 56 cents, and now we're basically even. Woo!

On a side note, http://www.x-rates.com/d/USD/table.html says that 1 CAD = 0.985513 USD, and http://www.x-rates.com/ says 1 CAD = 0.985512 USD.  Close...

Edit: On another financial note... GOOG stock is at $553/share. Wtf?! That's like, a 600% growth in value since the IPO. I wish I had money, and a time machine.

No, it's doubled because the American dollar has plummeted. So even though our money's stayed the same, it's relative value has doubled. Just take a look at a comparison between the US Dollar and the Euro, which shows the same trend as the USD against everything.

We don't need to decrease defense spending unless we're no longer in Iraq, but as long as we're there we need to outfit our troops as best we can. This war is expensive, but it's not something we can cut corners on. My only problem with the war is the cost factor, but I'm not about to agree with anything that would cut funding.

Welfare, on the other hand, should be removed immediately.
