While doing product testing on Friday, somebody set the threatcon to 4 on what they thought was a test machine. It wasn't. Oops.

I'm not sure whats more scary, that it took Symantec and hour to push the button to fix it or that it took an hour for some sysadmin to stop playing WoW and go "hey, the internets going to meltdown! WTF?!"

Well, to be fair, nobody knew it was broken (they thought it was dev box), so pushing the button to fix it wasn't really on their mind.

I have no idea how you gathered that. They were logged into the wrong server, which is extremely easy to do, and changed the ranking, which is what they were supposed to do.

Changing the Threatcon is the push of a button. Well, technically, you have to change a dropdown box then press a button. But really, it's extremely easy to do. Even I could change it to Threatcon 4 if I wanted to get fired.
