You're roughing it!
I'd personally do as Joe suggests

You might be right about that, Joe.

Keep your data for your computer backed up on an external harddrive or two, and store them safely in a backpack that is handy. Also stash any legal documents, sentimental things, and some other basics that you might need or be important to you.

Good luck for you guys over there, I hope you all make it through OK.

You better start packing then, from what I've read and seen, the fires won't be contained anytime soon.

They expect to contain the fire to the south of us (Harris Fire) by Halloween. !!! :O

I'd bet that you're currently bloated like a water ballon on a hot summer's day.

That analogy doesn't even make sense.  Why would a water balloon be especially bloated on a hot summer's day? For your sake, I hope there wasn't too much logic testing on your LSAT.

You should bring anything and everything that cannot be replaced photos, passports all your important documents and such. Your computer should be a last resort.

Yeah, you'd think that, but that's when you have to think about who you're talking to.  :)
And like a fool I believed myself, and thought I was somebody else...

I don't know about you, but I have a TON of stuff on my computer (backed up onto a drive that's near my computer) that can't be replaced.

Things are calming down here but the air quality is crappy. couple fires are still out there but i don't think we are in any imminent danger as of right now.

The only stuff I consider irreplaceable is either in multiple states or in SVN. :)
