After completing it, I have two things to say:  Holy fuck.  It's hot.

Edit:

Here's two screenshots mashed into one huge 3.2mb PNG.

http://maide.ca/public/random/pictures/8800/crysis.PNG

The top screenshot is settings on "high" (Max the demo allows) with resolution set to 1440x900.  After some in-game lag I changed my resolution down to 1024x768, which you can see in the second.  There is quite a bit of action in this baby.  :)

After some in-game lag

And you have what specs for a computer?

I'll pass. That would eat my computer alive, lulz.

I'd bet that you're currently bloated like a water ballon on a hot summer's day.

That analogy doesn't even make sense.  Why would a water balloon be especially bloated on a hot summer's day? For your sake, I hope there wasn't too much logic testing on your LSAT.

Holy fuck.  I figured since it's Friday and I have no homework due until next week, I'd give this a try.  I played through it with graphics on high (I think you need Vista/DX10 to run it on ultra high) and 1280x1024 resolution (didn't have any lag problems, but the shadow rendering acted a little funny).

It looks absolutely phenomenal.  The graphics are the best I've seen (which I suppose doesn't say much since I don't really play video games much), the game play is fantastic and the story line looks extremely promising.  I don't know if I'll buy it since I'm so busy this semester, but it looks fantastic.

I have been saying this for the past year and a half.

GAME OF THE YEAR.

DirectX10 makes it absolutely fucking beautiful.

Yeah, I remember you showing me screenshots, but seeing it played is so much more impressive!

I don't have DX10 because I don't want to install Vista. :(

I suppose I could now, though, since all I really use Windows for is when I want to use Maple (it runs like crap under Wine.  I think it has something to do with OpenGL not being configured correctly).  Maybe I'll do that this weekend...

Of course, assuming you have a DX10 class card =).
Does the Demo ship with DX10 support?

For the MP Beta they had to postpone it because of Driver quality.

Yeah, I do.  Nvidia 8800 GTS (I think.  GTX, maybe?  The one that's not $500).  I'm not sure on the demo, but I really think so.  It has options for "very high" on the graphics options, but they were greyed out for me.  I assumed this was because I wasn't running DX10.

I have Maple for Unix/Linux, you can has want?

Yeah, that'd be great!

I see, yea "Very high" is probably DirectX10. I think you should wait until performance reads on DX10 come out before upgrading though.

Seems like it's a pretty hit/miss thing with drivers.

Ah, I see.

I have hardly anything on Windows right now, but reinstalling XP and setting it up the way I like is always a bit annoying. :)

I thought the story was kind of lame, but compared so some of the games the industry is outputting these days, it's not bad.  :P  I also had weird shadow renders - Some shadows would stay on the screen instead of refreshing until I looked in like the opposite direction.

It may be because I love futuristic scifi, especially when they don't use super-cliche technology.

I found a better solution just now: turn 16Q Anti-Aliasing off.  :D

The lag happened when the game takes over during plot developments/etc.
