New Apartment
« on: November 06, 2007, 12:03:15 am »
So I moved back to Winnipeg (from Calgary) recently, for anybody who hasn't heard. I got an apartment almost a week ago, but my stuff arrived today. I'm partially unpacked, and figured I'd snap some pictures.

Enjoy!

16th. But there's no 2nd or 13th floor, so it's only 14 floors up.

I assume there's no 13 because it's bad luck, and no 2 because it's the loneliest number.

Glad I'm not the only one without a couch in one's apartment...

Looks nice, though.

Heh, I do have a couch, I probably missed it. My dad picked up a couch and chair for me second hand for $20 (or $0.99 American ;) ).

<edit> Actually, you can kind of see it in this picture.

I can't, I cracked the LCD so I'm stuck on default settings and manual aim. :)

Turning the flash of doesn't make the exposure time any longer on a shot like this... I don't understand why he would need to hold it steadier than normal.

Actually, he's right, likely for the wrong reasons. On my camera, when you turn off the flash and it's dark, the exposure time automatically goes way up to compensate. But I imagine that he just got lucky. :)

Nice. Is that in St. Boniface? St. James??

Didn't have time to look at all the pictures.

St. James. Specifically, the Courts of St. James, if you're familiar with that.

Well, no pets are allowed, but I suppose if they could fly that high they can sit on your balcony...

I just think it's endlessly funny that the Canadian dollar uses a symbol that was derived from a U inscribed over an S.

You sound pretty sure about a fact that, from what I remember, is widely debated. Or is that another one of those situations where Americans share one belief that the rest of the world doesn't?

<edit>This page says that the most widely accepted theory is that it's based on a Spanish thing.

Ahh! I know where those apartment complexes are. I use to drive past them every day. Aren't there like three there?
