The government of Pakistan has blocked access to YouTube because of video clips posted on the popular Web site that officials considered anti-Islamic, according to a media report.

The country's 70 Internet service providers have been told by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority that access to the Web site would be blocked until further notice, the Associated Press reported, citing an unnamed source.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has urged Web users to ask YouTube to remove the controversial movies, the report said. The authority said access to YouTube will be restored once the clips are removed.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority obviously doesn't know anything about how the internet works.
