Well, I made directories for the WoW and TBC installers, copied over Install.exe and the installer tomes, plus DirectX's install folder. I got the edition of WoW that came with the trial DVD, too, so that was like 10 minutes of my time, maybe? Ran a nice little apt-get install wine, waited a minute, that was done. Ran the installers with a straight-up wine Install.exe, no problem. From there, I was at WoW 2.0.0, piece of cake.
Copied 2.3.0 megapatch via flashdrive, and tried wine WoW-2.3.0-enUS-patch.exe and was greeted with a friend "There is no patch file to install." WTF? wine WoW-2.3.0-enUS-patch.exe -opengl -- it works. Now, I don't know why running the patcher in all of it's Direct3D awesomeness didn't work, but who are we to question teh Linux?!1.
So, the patcher killed itself at 19% and I gave up for now. I'm going to go ahead and upgrade to gutsy (that's a huge download) from dapper, get a better version of Wine, probably have to reinstall WoW entirely since I bet I killed it with a half-patch, and then try again.
