I'd bet that you're currently bloated like a water ballon on a hot summer's day.

That analogy doesn't even make sense.  Why would a water balloon be especially bloated on a hot summer's day? For your sake, I hope there wasn't too much logic testing on your LSAT.

Heh, bummer.  This issue is specific to your PC, right?

Try a different ethernet card if you haven't already just to narrow down the source of the problem.

Yep!

That sucks.  Can you boot into a Live CD or something and see if it works then?  That'd pretty much narrow it down to your network card or some funky BIOS setting, I think?

Why would the ethernet card be bunk if literally everything else works fine? I'll sit here, waiting for Firefox to load a page, and I'll browse to it with Opera and it'll load faster than Firefox can even think of doing.

Opera works fine to browse. I think. I do recall one time where I think it hung... but I don't use it long enough for it to do this. :P

I'm certain the Firefox technical support place can be of more help than we can.
One must ask oneself: "do I will trolling to become a universal law?" And then when one realizes "yes, I do will it to be such," one feels completely justified.

That's true. Tomorrow, I shall go ask them!

So a fresh install of Vista seemed to solve my problem for a bit... and it started up again.

I think it might be the Add-On "DownThemAll" since that's what I most recently did that seemed to have caused it. :P

have you tried the latest beta of Firefox?

http://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox-3.0b5&os=win&lang=en-US

Pick it up there if you haven't. I used to have issues with firefox randomly deleting my bookmarks. And since downloading the beta I have had no problems with it.
