Alien Moon Bases: Glenn Steckling
« on: March 22, 2008, 06:56:02 pm »
I've been listening to this radio show where a somewhat-skeptical radio show host is interviewing a guy named Glenn Steckling, who believes that aliens have a base built on the dark side of the moon. Earlier today, I would (and, in fact, did) say that that kind of thing is absolutely impossible, there's no way they could keep that kind of thing hidden. After browsing some YouTube videos, including this one, I'm still extremely skeptical, but now I'm less firm in my position.

Here is a summary and the photos they talk about during the show:
http://www.coasttocoastam.com/shows/2003/11/18.html

And here is the series of videos:
1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3KN4TTx4ijc
2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HNlLBkxyAGY
3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RbpnoqXK_do
4: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=45AvEaXgq_w
5: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p71d3qpypJU
6: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N2eQV0xKE78
7: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R50fbBXeNoU
8: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o7PKWs1V-TM
9: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qF-HDS-f6bg

I think it's cool, even if he's seeing things that aren't there, and I'd love to buy his book, but it looks difficult to find.

(Incidentally, when I get a long weekend I tend to get bored and look up weird stuff :) )

This is supposedly a video filmed by Neil Armstrong of a structure on the moon. I don't really believe this video is real, but who knows? :)

But this conspiracy theory goes against the other conspiracy theory that we never went to the moon in the first place! This concludes that the conspiracy theory suggesting we never went to the moon was in fact a conspiracy theory set out by the government in order to distract conspiracy theorists from the real truth: Aliens had at one time inhabited the dark side of the moon!

Still interesting.

Haha, the scariest part is that I was thinking the exact same thing! Seriously! :)

So I just finished watching the 9th video. It's interesting, but the guy sounds more and more insane as it progresses. He also did a really lousy job defending his position.

I'm not sure if he's insane, or afraid. :)

suggesting we never went to the moon

Don't forget, Canada never went to the moon.   :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o

Seriously though.... Really, iago?  REALLY?  Out of all the places to go.... our moon is not only the #1 travel spot, but they've set up permanent residence?

If they wanted to study us and have the technology to travel here, there's got to be an easier way.

And if they wanted the resources....  Well, it just seems strange to me that they'd risk detection by setting up so close.  There are other moons, hell, planets (anyone hear of Mars) where they could set up shop for natural resources.

It seems like everyone with the alien conspiracy theories has lacked one major question:

WHY?

And yes, I work for the CIA.
I have a programming folder, and I have nothing of value there

Running with Code has a new home!

Our species really annoys me.

lol wtf
One must ask oneself: "do I will trolling to become a universal law?" And then when one realizes "yes, I do will it to be such," one feels completely justified.

Suggestions?

Did you listen to the 90-minute radio show? I don't agree with what he said, but Steckling did answer that question. :P

I listened to it.  Admittedly, though, I didn't pay it my full attention.  Like you said, it was interesting, but it really didn't do much for me beyond convincing me that people out there really believe there's an alien base on the moon.

I think one of the pivotal questions asked was essentially "What's to say you haven't touched up these photos?" and Steckling's answer was a disappointing attempt to dodge the question.  He basically said something like "We have a book where we discuss these things."

Not quite, his answer was something like, "in my book, we reference the photos by NASA's system, so you can order the pictures straight from them and see for yourself"

He may have said that later, but I don't think that immediately followed.  Again, I was doing other things while listening to this, so I may have missed him saying that.

I don't remember him ever answering that question without mentioning how his book uses official NASA references. But I could be wrong. He definitely does say that all images in his book are properly cited. :)

I listened to the whole thing, paid full attention, but I still don't really buy it. I agree that there's more to it than we know, but I don't agree with alien moon bases. It's like the 9/11 conspiracies... I agree that there's alot more to it than we know (WTC building #7 going down, wtf.), but I don't think the government did it.

It is very interesting, and I do really want to know why haven't gone back up there, or why nothing up in space has at least taken pictures of the dark side.

Yeah, I totally agree. I consider moonbase and 9/11 conspiracy theories interesting, and I love reading about them and thinking about them, but I don't necessarily buy it. I keep an open mind, though -- if I hear a good conspiracy theory that doesn't seem to have any holes, I take it with a "prove this wrong" attitude. Keeps me thinking. :)

The moon is actually an extremely large battleship that was once used to fight an intergalactic war.
