Apparently, this letter was faxed to some observatory. Presumably by aliens with a fax machine. The whole story is on Slashdot, but here's the image:

Hmm does anyone here believe in aliens?

Personally i believe there has to be something else out there, with all that space we can't be the only things occupying one single planet. But in any case that fax is definitely fake.

Yeah I do, and with the same justification. I think we're definitely the only life, or at least intelligent life, in our solar system. In other galaxies though, there has to be.

I'm not sure it'd be wise to believe they do or do not exist as there isn't really any strong evidence either way, but I think it's extremely likely.  There are estimated trillions of Earth-like planets for every man, woman and child living today.

what if we're all ants and earth is our ant hill
and the solar system is some boys back yard with the universe being a huge planet which is a member of an event bigger container

and maybe the "aliens" existed at one time but some little boy (read: god) came in with a magnifying glass and incinerated them (global warming)

On the converse, what if there are "living" being smaller than our atoms? Maybe their planets make up the sub-sub-sub-atomic particles?
