And the like, jail time that can go with it. Usually a first offense would get you a fine and probation, but jail time is also possible. At a lot of the bars my mom has worked at it has been a requirement to card everyone the first time, whether they look 20 or 80.

Giving booze to a minor is a felony in NM, as of 2005.
My room mate got cited for it last august, he was cited with the city's version, a misdemeanor.

Well, @ the original point, it'd make college interesting as everyone's smoking that much more. :P
