If the guy was having a psychotic break/psychotic episode, doesn't it make more sense to treat him than to just kill him in an inhumane way? How would you feel if that guy was you/your kid/your parent/etc.?

If the guy was having a psychotic break/psychotic episode, doesn't it make more sense to treat him than to just kill him in an inhumane way? How would you feel if that guy was you/your kid/your parent/etc.?

He is FUBAR.  He is a threat to everyone he encounters.  There is no sense in wasting tax money on keeping this violent nut alive.  Unless you want to be responsible for him, I say end it.  It's just like an abortion, only he DESERVES it.

Also, if it were my kid/parent/etc ... I'd say do it.  It'd be a friggin' hard decision, but parents/kids disown their relatives all the time when they go off the deep end.

I suspected that when I heard the full story.  It's probably mentioned in the article or somewhere in this thread, but I guess he sat by a different person at a different point on their trip and they had very normal conversation.  The person had no idea there was anything wrong with him.  That just screams mental illness.

I totally agree with iago.  While I don't think this should go unpunished and I do think the punishment should be severe, death is excessive.
