How well can you survive a zombie outbreak?
« on: August 03, 2008, 10:53:35 am »
http://www.newsandentertainment.com/zFzombiequiz.html

Physical Rating: B
"With a little training and exercise, you'll be ready for an undead outbreak."

Mental Rating: C
"Your mental strength and intelligence are unremarkable." [hah]

Experience: D
"You must have seen or heard of at least one zombie movie."

Emotional: F
"Numbness is the path to survival."

Overall: Z+
"Your knowledge, strength, and will to survive are unstoppable. It would take a nuclear holocaust to remove you from the face of earth. Zombies don't stand a chance."
I'd personally do as Joe suggests

You might be right about that, Joe.

I think the "experience" thing is rigged, though, because he doesn't say which mythos he's going by. As such, there are multiple right answers. :)

For example, "Zombies will only eat..." "Living humans" "Living animals" "Living humans and animals" "Corpses" -- they say the right answer is "Living humans and animals", but that question is highly debated.

And yes, Joe, there are multiple Mythos.

The Basics:
Romero - Unknown initial cause of zombieism.  People who die turn.  Disease accelerated through bites.  Zombies are slow but can survive almost any attack.  Conversion takes hours at least.  Zombies are slow.
Late Romero - Same as above, only after significant periods of time zombies will be able to remember basic learned habits.
Romero Remake - Same as Romero, except fresh zombies retain all physical prowess for a while.
28 - Cause is RAGE virus.  Zombies can starve to death.  Zombies are fast mother fuckers.  Conversion takes mere seconds.  There is a rare genetic immunity to the disease.  Any bite or scratch will transmit the disease.
Biohazard (Resident Evil) - Based on Romero.  Zombieism is caused by a man-made viral weapon.  There is a cure.  Genetic mutations are prevalent.  Various animals are affected by the virus (birds and dogs, specifically).
Biohazard 4 - Zombies caused are ancient parasitic lifeforms.  They can be controlled by the hive master.  There is a cure.  Other Biohazard properties apply.
Return - Romero knock-offs.  Similar, but lamer.  Corpses can be reanimated, even if dead for centuries.  No cure.
Solanum - From the "Zombie Survival Guide".  Pretty generic zombies.  Indefinite survival span.  No cure.
Grindhouse - Zombieism caused by chemical weapon.  No cure.  (I don't know much about this kind).
Versus - Zombeism caused by evil forces.  Any dead body instantly becomes a zombie.  These zombies require MANY shots to the head before they are "killed".  There is no cure.

There are WAY more kinds of zombies, too.  So keep that in mind.

[edit]
Fixed :)

Joke / head.

I was staying that we're taking a quiz on how well we can survive real zombies. Like if Craz3d gets drunk and mutates into a non-human, then starts biting people, and all of Las Cruces (sp?) becomes Zombies, then all of the surrounding area, and we need to survive.

wrong Wrong WRONG! :)

Romero zombies don't require bites, all people who die in the Romero mythos become zombies. Bites only accelerate the process.

Nope, they mentioned it explicitly in one of the newer Romero movies.

But they also alluded to it in the original Night of the Living Dead: "Bodies of the [recently deceased|unburied dead] are returning to life and attacking the living"

If you mean Return of the Living Dead, they are not really that similar to Romero zombies. They are brought back with a weird mutagenic gas (2-4-5 trioxin!) originally intended as a pesticide to kill marijuana plants. They hunger specifically for brains rather than any human flesh (and started the zombies actually saying "braaaiins" thing). They are fast, and can run. They also can't be killed by the typical shot to the head method. The only way to kill them is to cremate the bodies, which in turn releases the toxic gas that can then potentially contaminate rainwater, that might fall over a cemetery and reanimate every corpse there!

And Return of the Living Dead is not lame you nub.

The only way to get rid of them is to seal them away, in barrels for example, and hope that one of them doesn't get mistakenly shipped to a building across from the cemetery.

That worked great at first, but good luck catching all of them and putting them in barrels after the outbreak :D

And the answers it gives to the questions are soooooo horrible and misguided if you go through them, and written by someone who obviously doesn't know their different zombies very well.

When it comes right down to it, I thought most of his answers were good, except for the ones on zombie lore.

Most of the survival questions made sense to me. Short hair so they don't grab on, tight but not revealing clothes, so that you don't get grabbed (lose) or raped (revealing). But, if you answered muscular, you won't get raped. :)
