I got two Samsung SyncMaster 2493HMs (24", 1920x1200). I rolled the dice and got one open box and one retail (they only had one open box, which had about a $100 discount) and they both ended up working great. I haven't done any sort of tests for dead pixels other than maximizing notepad and looking around for them, but I haven't found any yet. The only thing that annoys me about them right now is the buttons. They're touch sensitive and there's no way to see or feel for them without some light. It's easy enough to find the power button because it's right next to the power indicator LED, but the others usually require me turning on my lamp. They're pretty sleek looking though. Definitely an improvement over my 19" monitors, especially since one of them died on me a few weeks ago.
Incidentally, does anyone know a good way to test for dead pixels other than the obvious?

You're unlocking it, I assume? 
The guys at work do all sorts of cool stuff on it, including multiplayer Quake, but you have to unlock it for anything cool.
Yeah, I'm definitely planning on it. One of my friends spent hours working on his jailbroken 8GB and he was doing some pretty sweet things with it. I figure I'll wait until I get back to Fort Collins and I'll ask him to help me since he's already been through all of the trials and tribulations.
