LHC "absolutely safe"
« on: September 10, 2008, 06:21:10 am »
...says Stephen Hawking.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2710348/Stephen-Hawking-Large-Hadron-Collider-vital-for-humanity.html

I figure if he actually said that, I'll trust him over a bunch of ignorant naysayers screaming that there's a percent of a percent of a chance of a micro black hole actually doing something.

(initial tests are positive, hooray!)

I'd bet that you're currently bloated like a water ballon on a hot summer's day.

That analogy doesn't even make sense.  Why would a water balloon be especially bloated on a hot summer's day? For your sake, I hope there wasn't too much logic testing on your LSAT.

The LHC has proven that Javascript is dangerous:

How can you argue with logic like that? :)

They setup some web-cams too!

http://www.cyriak.co.uk/lhc/lhc-webcams.html

That's really cool. Gives some perspective about what they're actually doing.

Especially the part where it shows the LHC and the parking lot outside the facility blowing up.. :P

Yet the result is still the same for us! I'm going to go out on a limb and say Camel didn't watch the entire feed.

No they didn't! I wasn't planning on visiting that webcam page until they said something. They didn't ruin it, they gave me a laugh instead.

Was going to post this in Dream Log, but I decided this is a much more appropriate place.

This morning I had a dream: I was sitting in my room, heard a high pitched distant noise accompanied with a white flash in the sky, looked outside, saw/heard another. Then I heard this loud deep humming which got louder and louder, and finally exploded into the loudest fucking boom ever, which woke me up.

You see the flash before you hear anything. In fact, if you're anywhere near it, you get vaporized by the flash before you hear anything.
