Rupert's Photo Thead...
« on: December 23, 2008, 08:51:27 pm »
This is part of my weekend at Big Bear. The first day I went snowboarding it was awesome, clear skies, fresh powder. mm i was in love
second day i went it was sleeting.. something between rain and snow. and it was like 10 degrees so the slopes were icy so i called it quits after 3 runs and got a refund :).
I included a direct link for those of you that can't see the big pictures.

OH and I will be adding all the pictures I take to this thread. so stay tuned

Very nice photos. If you get a chance to take more, up the ISO a lot, and you'll get a clearer, less blurry shot of the flying snow.

Very cool.

That Toyota looks pretty capable of AWD.. probably has M+S tires on it, making the chains pretty useless.

While I agree about the lack of halfway decent looking cheerleaders, I don't think that was the point of the photo.

Nice photos, man. Only advice would be to work on the background (not the sky, but the stuff between the car and the sky) a bit more. I dunno, I just think the photo would look better without the Target signs, trees, and whatnot in the background. Pretty damn good looking, though... could definitely use some of that on the trip I've been telling you about. =)

Good, the background is fine as it is. It comes with the location.. if you're looking for a location without the business of a strip mall parking lot, you have to go somewhere else. Maybe industrial, or abandoned, or out of the way. Don't alter the background that much, the signs and whatnot come with the territory. It's fine.

It's generally pretty hard to get super good shots of a line of cars, since people tend to suck at parking. You have to shoot them individually to get any good kinds of angles or framing and more controlled backgrounds. Looking good though..

Well it could work what you do is make a box then add another light source then you would need to compensate for the light source by changing the white balance on your point and shoot.
try it with a shoe box., and cut squares into it. Put a 8 by 11 white paper then get a white tshirt and cover then add light. presto change-o you have your light box.

Some of my cousin, nephew, and other people.
I am using flickr instead of photobucket this time and
my conclusion:

Flickr is a pain in the ass to share individual photos. because I have to go into each image the full size the I can get the URL.
I think Flickr was geared toward mass sharing.
I just like to use it because I get bigger images with flickr.

Your family doesn't really look viet, I would have never guessed.

And why is that boy wearing shoes in the house?!

Flickr is a much better site, it was geared more towards photographers. It's a good thing that it's more difficult to share mass quantities of images, sometimes it can get excessive. Plus, the quality is better.

Pictures look pretty good, you're getting better. How much editing are you doing in Photoshop?

He is wearing shoes cause he is the small one and gets special treatment. but trust me everyone else has their shoes off hahah.

For photoshop all I do is resize and add border and my name, and sometimes I sharpen. but that is really all I know how to do. Sometimes when it is dark I mess with the curve but I always mess up the exposure.

Panaramic should have been 360 degrees, that would have been sweet. :)

Also, they probably don't appreciate you wasting their bandwidth. Ohwell.

I like the colors.  Were you using some effect to generate that, or was it just the lighting?

The sky looks really cool in contrast with the cars, I think.

For a couple of them I used HDR which is have one pic exposed correctly one over exposed and one underexposed and the effect if more detail.
and also I have added some original and a HDR so you can see what I am talking about.

yup. I could work on cars all day. I do my buddies brakes, suspensions, etc.

I don't like taking Candid pictures cause people get freaked out. and it is weird when I go to sporting events and everyone looks at you and is like pff what a nerd or some shit then all they care about are pictures of themselves so I stick to inanimate stuff.

Oh. I forgot that your car isn't an Si. Hrm.. you can get a set of Rotas for about that much.. which would probably be better then stock rims. But, that's just my opinion.

Aren't those stock rims?
they are stock si rims 17'' mine are 16'' but I got them for $300 I plan to sell my other stocks for $400

Oh. I forgot that your car isn't an Si. Hrm.. you can get a set of Rotas for about that much.. which would probably be better then stock rims. But, that's just my opinion.

Yup I am poor so I opted for fuel efficient 140 hp car :(

but i like em. I was going to powder coat them charcoal but ehh.

Why do asians always travel in herds? Seriously, the English language needs a scientific term for a group of asians. I thus coin the term:
squint [skwint]
-noun
a number of Asians feeding or traveling together: a squint of Asians.

Nice photos.
