I just use an old 233MHz P2 with FreeBSD...but probably could build an Intel Atom router for approximately the same as a brand new router. Best of all, it won't suck.

You'd just need to invest a few hours of your time to assemble it and set it up.
What would he get out of it that a store-bought router couldn't provide?I'm very sure there are many things that a BSD router can do that a store-bought router cannot do. That's not the question, though.
