But the flu DOES originate from the pork industry.

The whole reason the meat industry lobbied them to stop calling it "swine flu" is because it hurt their profits. That's pretty lame, in my opinion.

"it" is the pronoun for objects -- you're thinking of "he/she" or "him/her".
