Gravy tends to pair nicely with meat offerings. It does go well with the grain food category. Try making a meat sandwich (preferably poultry), and top that with gravy.

Gravy sucks, don't do it!
Unless we're talking mushroom gravy. Then, it goes on anything. Especially potatoes. Mmmm

My gravy goes well with breast meat very nicely.
EDIT: On a serious note, I douse pretty much anything with gravy I love it so much. During thanksgiving I put gravy on everything, from stuffing to mashed potatoes to turkey to biscuits. I mostly eat gravy with different grains/breads though.

biscuits & gravy with a nice side of bacon!
after you cook just a few strips of bacon, add some flour, pepper salt, whatever you want and milk. It's awesome. I usu tear up the bacon (I make it real crisp) and put some of that in as well.
