And now for the bonus material. :)

Alan Turing was an incredibly brilliant man, till he committed suicide at the age of 42, 2 years after he was arrested for being homosexual, which was illegal in Britain at the time (1952), and chemically castrated. Recently, the British Prime Minister issued a formal apology for how he was treated, but that's pretty empty IMO.

And on the topic of gay rights, the Stonewall Riots are incredibly interesting (the page I linked was a 'featured article' on Wikipedia last year). To summarize, up to and including the late 1960s, being gay in the US was illegal and gay bars were routinely raided and the people there rounded up and sent to jail. For that reason, they usually frequented Mafia-run bars that paid the police to look the other way. In June of 1969, at the Stonewall Inn in New York (which, for what it's worth, I walked past when I was in NYC), the people there fought back, and rioted for several days. The descriptions of it sound absolutely fantastic (as in unreal). And that's really where the modern Gay Rights movement started, especially the parades and stuff. That's why the parades typically happen in June.

So yeah, there's a history lesson for you. I can't believe that as late as the 1960s that kind of nonsense was happening!

I knew it. I've been calling you gay for years, based on content of all your posts, and I was always right.

Haha yeah, and I've found it funny for years. Who'd have thought warz would be the most perceptive? ;)

For what it's worth, I never disagreed!

What's even more sad is to think of the years... decades... worth of further contributions to science he could have made had he lived a full life.
