New Vayden Recording
« on: November 03, 2010, 08:36:20 pm »
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wLOkX277iaU

we got tired of waiting for our producer to find time and record the album, so we started it ourselves. This was recorded and mixed in my singer's back room studio, guitars were recorded myself on a virtual amp.

more to come, possibly one every tuesday?

Indeed! This makes me really sorry for not listening to all the rest. I'll soon rectify this mistake!

the parts where it was just guitar were cool, but I kept falling asleep in between when there was singing and armin was taking a nap or something.

What the fuck was that lottery thing?

Okay, anyway.  Once a lottery ticket is run through the machine...the person has to claim it.  For larger sums, the store has to contact the regional lotto office, and then they take over.  You can't run it and then walk away and send it to someone else.

Nice song, but the video annoys me.

You probably didn't like Lord of the Rings, did you? Luckily, most people don't get hung up on little non-details.

regardless; thanks! :)

It was fine, but that's probably because I never had a job where I had to walk a ring across the world and drop it in a volcano.  Anyway, the woman reminds me of Jerry from Strangers With Candy.

Excellent!  I loved it.  Did you guys design the whole thing?  I'm impressed... rather liked the whole thing. :)

The video and song are depressing.  The old lady *looks* miserable and from what I understand of the video her only(?) child wants nothing to do with her.

Although it was sad I enjoyed it.  However, I feel like you should have made the lottery numbers 4 8 15 16 23 42. :P

Lay now forevermore slender;
And all winds that liven
Silhouette a lone existence;
A leafless oak grasping at eternity.

I think that's the point.  I think music that can conjure emotions is good music.  That's why I like classical so much.  Listen to the first few minutes of Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto #1 and tell me you don't feel something. :)

I completely agree with you. I always tell people that if music doesn't stir-up some sort of emotion in me then I have no interest in listening to it.

Listen to the first few minutes of Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto #1 and tell me you don't feel something. :)
When first listening to this I don't feel anything; however, I feel like classical music has a time and a place.  Currently, I have just woken up and kind of have a headache so I doubt this is a good time for me to listen to it.  I will try listening to it again eventually, but classical music in general is hard for me to get into.

My singer wrote the song. He generally tries to leave his lyrics somewhat open for interpretation. His brother was responsible for the video concept and execution, so what you see is his interpretation of the lyrics. He made it for his film class. The autistic girl in the video was also in his film class, and her role in our short film was an exchanged favor.

so written by my singer, recorded by us in our back room studio. some of the drums were programmed, the rest of them was my drummer mic'ed on a djembe. Mixed by our producer friend who does a lot of work with us. My singer's brother did all the filming and video editing himself.

other than that, no one else was involved.

Try listening to Beethoven, both his symphonies and piano concertos. I like the piano concertos best, actually.

Beethoven is my favorite by far :-)

If you want to get into Tchaikovsky I would recommend 1812 Overture.

For Tchaikovsky I'd recommend Oistrakh playing the violin concerto.

This link will only be up for a couple days :P.

Of course Bach is by far the greatest composer of music, objectively speaking.   :o

Armin, if you want this taken down, let me know.

EDIT -
Oh, you have it hosted for free on your site, so I didn't have to download the YouTube video and strip it. Oh well. :P

I'd personally do as Joe suggests

You might be right about that, Joe.
