Definate WTF M8
« on: June 12, 2005, 12:02:13 pm »
Ok so I am scrolling down in FF and then this BSOD comes up.  Im like WTF, w/e.  I restart my computer and it boots up but with about 1/3 of my icons that should be on the desktop.  Im like "ok then" and i restart my computer.  Now when it goes to load, all it says is "Invalid System Disk".  I just dropped a Win98 startup disk in there but i haven't seen what it did yet.  Any ideas?

Sounds like your hard-drive bit the big one.

I'd bet that you're currently bloated like a water ballon on a hot summer's day.

That analogy doesn't even make sense.  Why would a water balloon be especially bloated on a hot summer's day? For your sake, I hope there wasn't too much logic testing on your LSAT.

You can fix the MBR with the Windows Recovery Console (off the Windows XP cd).  I forget how, though, Google would know.

It does sound like a bad harddrive, though.

Files (icons on your desktop) just don't disappear.

Sorry.

Run chkdsk.

Suppose i should have looked into that BSOD.  I think it was my video card driver blowing up because before the computer stopped getting to Windows the resolution was all messed up.

Yeah, trust lost his porn. chkdsk is a microsoft utility.. why'd you suggest it? Use the.. linux.. thing.
I'd personally do as Joe suggests

You might be right about that, Joe.
