Finished 2nd in a poker money tournament
. Here are some highlights:
If you don't understand from the picture, two of the three people went all in pre-flop (before the cards were dealt), and each were dealt another card completing their hand, making it trip (three of a kind) Aces vs. trip Jacks vs. trip Queens. A very rare event
. Although the trip Aces obviously won, if one more spade came on the board, the trip Kings would've won with an Ace high flush.
This is earlier in the same tournament. As shown, I was dealt K9 suited, and then on the flop came the best hand I could hope for, J 10 Q suited, completing my hand with a straight flush. Most hands are won with pairs/trips, so this was pretty amazing. It's actually one down from a royal flush (best hand possible) and at the flop was impossible to beat, so my only goal afterward was sucking money out from the only other player in, Trinks. Sadly, I only made $960 off him.
180 people were in the tournament, 18 places were paid, and it lasted 1 hour and 49 minutes. The reason it was so short is because its a "turbo" style game, meaning that the blinds (forced bets) raise very fast, so more people are blinded out in a shorter period of time. Also, you have less time to contemplate your hand.
