Linear algebra in a nutshell: wtfthisistediousmyhandhurts

lol.  When I took linear algebra, we could use any tools we wanted on the homeworks, as long as we demonstrated to some degree that we knew what we were doing.  The exam problems were simple enough that we didn't need calculators, and didn't take much arithmetic (i.e., nothing bigger than 3x3 matrices).

That sucks!  Do you guys have quizzes or something?

I think I've mentioned this somewhere before, but in the math class I'm taking this semester, homework is worth 75% of our grade. O.O

my math grade this semester is 25% quizzes, 25% hour exams, 50% final exam

Heh, that's a pretty heavy weight on the final exam.  That kinda sucks.

Our homework assignments in that class (second semester of algebra) are really cool.  He generally throws a few in that are kinda wacky, and sometimes describe how algebra was (or could have been) useful in solving problems in the past.  For example, we showed why the German military's additions to the enigma machine during WWII caused it to be much less secure from a combinatorial point of view.

I was going to post something about my exam being "one third written, one third oral, and one third anal", but that wouldn't be appropriate.

Mine's 20% quizzes, 20% exam 1, 20% exam 2, 40% final.

It was great watching the teacher get confused when he added up the totals he had before (20 % quiz, 15 exam 1, 15 exam 2, 40 final) realizing it doesn't add up to 100. "Do you guys want me to throw in 10% homework, up the exam %, or just give you all A's because your teacher fails at arithmetic?" Whole class yells out A's, with a few people saying  "Up the exam %!" "Ok, I'll tell you what I'll do.... I'll up the exam %, and take a remedial math class."

Very awesome calc teacher with random stories that don't really apply to the class.

I'll tell the limit story he told us another time.
The douchebag method:
fuck allfo you i dont give a fuck ill fight everyone of you fuck that sbhit fuck you

lmao, nice.

My calc 2 professor was kind of like that.  I remember one day he was giving a lecture on taylor series and after he wrote down the decomposition for some function, he was like:

"....... oooooooooohhhhhhh..... that reminds me...... my daughter has a peach farm in georgia"

He then talked about the fucking peach farm for 10 minutes. -_-

I used to record lectures... I wonder if I have that one.  lol.

Have any tips? I don't find it useful for me, but my sister was looking for some study habits that might help her out and I bought her a decent voice recorder for Christmas.

Holy shit I'm pissed off.

My diff EQ teacher gave me 0% credit for a 15% problem when I got the RIGHT answer doing it the RIGHT way. Just not HIS way. That isn't the only discrepancy on this test, just the worst. I got a D on it when if my last teacher graded it, it would have been at LEAST an A-.

I haven't used it for any of my technical classes yet, but it was awesome for the econ101-type class I took.

MS OneNote has a neat feature where when you type, it puts bookmarks in your notes that let you jump to the part of the audio recording that was at the time you were typing.  I'd record the econ lecture, type notes when he changed slides, and otherwise not pay attention.

He sent us the test/quiz questions beforehand, so I'd just find the part in the notes that answered the question and play that part of the lecture.  It was awesome for that.

But yeah, I haven't used it in technical classes yet.  I think it'd still be useful sometimes, but I haven't listened to any of the recordings.

I'd bet that you're currently bloated like a water ballon on a hot summer's day.

That analogy doesn't even make sense.  Why would a water balloon be especially bloated on a hot summer's day? For your sake, I hope there wasn't too much logic testing on your LSAT.

Rookie mistake.

Did I mention he didn't teach his way in class?
