Today is t-minus 5 for "Judgement Day" (I go to court to plea No Contest to the MIP offense and hope for a deferment)

What's the difference between No Contest, Guilty, Innocent, etc.? Does the plea have any effect on a possible trial, etc.?

Guilty: Basically you say "I did it, my bad, give me what you will"
No Contest: Basically you're not saying that you did it, but you're also accepting responsibility of it
Not Guilt: "I didn't do it"

Plea bargaining happens in place of a trial, basically.  You reach an agreement with the system and that is your punishment and what have you.

I don't see why you would accept responsibility for something you may not have done. If that is indeed the point of a No Contest.

Punishment can be the same or not, discretion of the Judge.
I believe for reasons civil suits is why you'd plea no contest vs. guilty.

Almost...a plea of Not Guilty is "It doesn't matter if I did it or not, because either way you can't prove anything".

I don't see why you would accept responsibility for something you may not have done. If that is indeed the point of a No Contest.

Also if you plead no contest you don't have to lie by saying not guilty.

Speaking of lying, I turned somebody in for an honor code violation today. The guy is a complete jerk and I don't like him, but I still feel kind of bad for turning him in. We were self-correcting a quiz in Spanish and he changed one of his answers. I'm on MY honor to report that, so I had to. I hope it doesn't go to trial because I don't want to be responsible for ruining some kids life, because most likely he would be expelled.
