I actually did this awhile back and it was sort of a joke. It couldn't process mp3s fast enough so the quality wasn't there. It also didn't have a sleep function so battery drain happened insanely fast. They might have fixed these problems since then but back then it was like some sort of sick joke.

Well, according to the big bold text on the main page,

The fourth generation click wheel, mini, U2, Photo, and Shuffle iPods are NOT currently supported. For the latest information on 4th gen development, read the Fourth Generation Project Status.

Do you think that means they aren't supported?

Yeah, but does Microsoft support VirtualPC on Windows XP home? Nope, they only support it on pro. Does it mean it doesn't work? No, it works like a charm.

Did you read the page they reference? They explain why 4G don't work.

The frontpage is outdated. If you read the forums over there you will see that it does infact have support for 4g ipods now.
