How should I download KDE?
« on: June 15, 2005, 08:55:22 am »
I want to install KDE on my Ubuntu linux box, but apt-get doesn't handle dependancys any more than listing them. There about twomilliongazillion of them, and typing each one out would be suicide for my fingers. Any idea how to deal with this?
I'd personally do as Joe suggests

Download the source and compile it? I never tried it this way, I usually get the Slackware Packages because I'm lazy.

But do bear this in mind: no question is too silly to ask, but some are too silly to answer, especially when they are already answered in this FAQ.

I don't mean to dig up an old thread, but... you better have a lot of patience if you are planning on compiling KDE rather than installing it from a package.  KDE takes literally around 46 hours to compile, with dependencies.

Soooo patience :)

I'd bet that you're currently bloated like a water ballon on a hot summer's day.

That analogy doesn't even make sense.  Why would a water balloon be especially bloated on a hot summer's day? For your sake, I hope there wasn't too much logic testing on your LSAT.
