Mail me OpenDarwin!
« on: September 16, 2005, 07:46:44 am »
Yeah! Theres a Darwin (MacOS X core) written for x86. Its at apple.com somewhere. If anyone wants to download/burn/ship it to me, I'll be willing to pay.
I'd personally do as Joe suggests

You might be right about that, Joe.

Does this mean you could run OS X on a non-Macintosh computer?

It means you can run Darwin, but not the full OS X (the top presentation and lowest core layer of OS X are closed source)
I have a programming folder, and I have nothing of value there

Running with Code has a new home!

Our species really annoys me.

But is it worth it?

No.  Apple is switching to x86 boards (Intel, I think) very soon.

Darwin itself is basically just another UNIX distro. As much as you all hate Apple, MacOS X has NEVER crashed for me (except running my C++ programs, which has NEVER affected anything but themselves). Add FreeX86 or whatever it is and you have a great system for free.

EDIT -
Hows this sound..
Labor: $4
CD: $0.50
Shipping: $1 (should be about that, right?)
Handling: See labor + shipping.

Easy 5.50. Deal, anyone?
I'd personally do as Joe suggests

Joe, I can send this too you. Even though I don't like you as much anymore, I like mailing things.

Hmm. I didn't think Mac OS X was released yet? I thought the only versions released were leaked copies. =p

Where's my $500 in case I get caught? :)

I'd bet that you're currently bloated like a water ballon on a hot summer's day.

That analogy doesn't even make sense.  Why would a water balloon be especially bloated on a hot summer's day? For your sake, I hope there wasn't too much logic testing on your LSAT.

Newby: This is something else, it's open source and shizzle.

Joe: I replied way earlier this afternoon:

I will.

So you still pay.
