Networking Hardware Upgrade?

Right now, my network is simple.

Internet>  JoeMomma>  BOB
cave
LIBRARY

The way I want it to be is..

                                      cave
Internet  >  JoeMomma>  Hub  >  Bob
                                    LIBRARY

Anyhow, I'm looking into buying hardare. Really! =p

I've already got the cable to hook BOB to the hub, and for LIBRARY I'll need about 200ft.

Any suggestions for LIBRARY's cable, or problems with the hardware I've listed?

I bought a good working 5port 10/100 Dlink hub at a garage sale for $3 (CAD), try searching around your area before buying things online for $20+(USD).

Your hub said 10mbps, does that mean 10/100 or just 10?

10-BaseT / 10mbps means 10mbps.  I've never seen a 100mpbs device that doesn't support other 10mbps hardware.

Unless you have specific reasons for buying a hub, buy a 10/100/1000 switch instead along with some CAT6 cable, or CAT5e if you plan on running them a ways.

Oh, I completely spaced the fact that he said "Hub."  Yeah Joe -- you want a switch.  Hubs SUUUCK.  Stfu, pull up your coinpurse and spend a little money. =P

Sadly, I only have a 10/100 switch for my network.  The Cable is CAT-5 (I got a box of 1,000ft for free!), but I ran two runs @ 300+ feet, so it's ok.  I'll live without running gig for a while.

Unless you're running short distances, CAT6 isn't worth the extra money, but if you are, it's definately worth having.
