I'd bet that you're currently bloated like a water ballon on a hot summer's day.

That analogy doesn't even make sense.  Why would a water balloon be especially bloated on a hot summer's day? For your sake, I hope there wasn't too much logic testing on your LSAT.

G-Unit sucks.

And actually, I think it's a great idea.  It's like making the .xxx domain: it helps me sort out the crap. :)

Well if its anything like the website it will be poorly run and find itself bankrupt in a very short time.

On a side note, I'm rather surprised someone hasn't come out with a better social networking site than myspace yet. Its really quite a large market and a superb site would easily run circles around myspace.

There are actually multiple networking sites, one of the other more popular being Facebook, which is focused more towards college students.

Doesn't anyone realize that (in conjuction to http://www.x86labs.org/forum/index.php/topic,1928.0.html), Fox is using the "MySpace" name to get all of the kiddies to buy from their already-established record labels?

But facebook has the highschool version (which is becoming more popular, I was the 2nd at my school to have it, and now a lot of people do) which was made to compete with MySpace.

Though, MySpace obviously has a hold on a larger market share - that's why it sold for so much money! People are obsessed with that, for real, all MySpace needs to do is post a bulletin saying "Tom says if you continue to breathe he will delete your MySpace account" and all the troubles would be solved. :)

Haha, fag.  Hehe, just kidding.  I think we all have an online journal of some sort.  At least something that we post major happenings in our lives, this forum included.  I use my website as a sort of myspace, but I don't call it a blog.  I suppose it could be considered one, but it has more content than just an online journal.  I personally hate myspace and think it's stupid, but I suppose the emo's have to have someone to tell everyone their lives suck.

Am I the only one who thinks this is one of the most dangerous things on the Internet?  I mean, parents/schools/etc. bend over backwards trying to stop kids from posting real name/where they live/where they go to school/pictures/age/etc. online, then MySpace tells kids to do exactly that, and they do.  It seems like it would be an extremely fertile breeding ground for child molesters.

I suppose that's true.  I still am pretty weary about posting my real name in too many places, but I really don't worry about it much.  There are other things that have existed for a lot longer than MySpace (in larger dominantion, anyway) that have encouraged the same thing, though.  MSN/Yahoo profiles being one of them I can think of off of the top of my head.  I suppose there are other similar services on the internet thaht exist outside these two entities, but those are those most two prominant ones I can think of.

I personally am not too worried about child molesters coming to get me, but I see what you mean.  And I use myspace more for the mail system I guess, I really don't go around finding people and trying to make friends, I just talk to the friends I know...Oh, and there is no way in hell I'm emo -.-

You take this risk by just having a kid. In a way its a lot like terrorism, you can walk around with your gas mask all the time or you can accept the risk and get on with life. I also think that child molestation is a crime of opportunity; the little girl walking alone down the street is going to be a bigger target than the girl posting all her information online while safely in her room.

Also MySpace doesn't encourage these sort of actions but with any sort of social networking system its going to be hard to stop them. I.E. MySpace doesn't allow accounts for people who aren't >15, but of course the kids lie so they can use it. A lot like I did when I was <13 and you had to fake a birthdate or such so it would let you have an account. Also real names that are entered in profiles aren't displayed but this doesn't stop people from putting it in other profile fields.

You're absolutely right, everything is a risk.  But there are also a lot of creeps trolling the Internet looking for kids.

Exactly.  The anonymity of the internet provides a pretty "safe" way for stalkers to seek prey.

iago would be a prime example.

He's an adult, but spends his days hanging out with teenagers.
He has many of their phone numbers.
And addresses.
And he says they can come stay with him.
And he plans to go places with them (Defcon) or let them come to him.
And he creates a haven to keep them around!

There's an article in November of this year's Wired magazine about MySpace becomming the next generation's MTV.  The article says that MySpace got more hits than google lin august, around 9.4 bn pageviews.  It's launched the careers of quite a few groups in the past few years, including Fall Out Boy, My chemical Romance, Reliaent K, and some band called Silverstein.  I don't personally hold a MySpace site, but I think there's an age requirement of some sort, 18, but I could be wrong.  Either way, it's apparently popular (over 3.5 MILLION new subscribers each month), and it made the creators, Chris DeWolfe and Tom Anderson filthy rich.

Silverstein is pretty fucking emo. Stop defending your love for them. :)

On a side note, this quote was taken from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fall_Out_Boy

I'd bet that you're currently bloated like a water ballon on a hot summer's day.

That analogy doesn't even make sense.  Why would a water balloon be especially bloated on a hot summer's day? For your sake, I hope there wasn't too much logic testing on your LSAT.

I never said I listened to them, or liked them (besides their cover for The Police on a tribute album), but I don't think Fall Out Boy is emo. Sure they use MySpace, but do you hate everyone who has one?

No.

I hate them for the same reason you hate the iPod. It's popular, and there are much much better alternatives; yet no one uses them as much!

Yeah, but it's a fine networking tool for bands as such, emo or not.

I dislike MySpace for different reasons than I dislike the iPod.

Just as the iPod is a fine media player, alternatives or not.

Ugh..I thought MySpace was home of the emo's..Not home of G-Unit.
Hahaha when I first saw the thread title I thought "Emo Records".  :P
Yeah. :P Exact same here.

I mean, I honestly don't mind MySpace, I have some extremely good friends who have them, and are really in no way emo from as far as I've seen. The way I look at it is, either they come here or they stay there, I vote for they stay there.

As an addition: Bands like Fall Out Boy are why I'm NOT buying the new Tony Hawk game, if I could add my own music to it, I'd buy, otherwise I don't want to hear all those punks ruin my oldies.

@Scr33n0r: 50 cent said when interviewed about his game that most people turn off the game sound and turn on their own music when they play games (that's why he added a kickass, in his opinion, soundtrack to the game)

The point of this is: buy the game, turn off the sound, turn on your own CD.

Didn't know they made cool games about guys who got shot.

"So our story begins with this dude walking down the street, he got shot, you need to play as the man getting the bullets out of him."

Hrm, but anyways, the game apparently is to have a lot of talking/skits and such, I'd like to hear them, not continuesly switch back and forth, the least they could do is make a decent soundtrack, possibly get some advice from the people who make GTA, I've never had a problem with those soundtracks, infact, not many have.

The GTA soundtracks get repetitive.

And he plans to go places with them (Defcon) or let them come to him.
I've made it quite clear that i'm not going to do anything with anybody till they're 18.  Once they're 18 it's not molesting children anymore, it's just the legal kind of creepy!

And addresses.
Shit, I need to mail that thing to Newby.  I keep forgetting. :(

Lies! When we were discussing Defcon over the summer (last summer, maybe this spring? Dunno.) Anyway, the plan was to get Newby to come too since he's so close...but he'd only be 17. :)

Kind of weird, my mom was telling me about how she and her boyfriend today were talking to a friend of theirs about how a kid around here met a "girl" online and he saved up money to take a plane to go see her, when he got there, "she" was really an older boy.

She then asked me if I knew any kind of...older kids online who are...well, gay, or creepy in any way.

Well, obviously, my first thought was iago.

So she asks me if any of my online friends ever invite eachother to visit in real life. Once again, iago comes directly to mind. So what do I tell her? "Well, there's Ron, but Newby's going up there when he's 18..and then Hitmen would probably go too."

Then at that point I realized how dumb that sounded and left.

The difference is, I don't want sex or anything.

I didn't save up money, but I did fly to see Tmp.  I happened to be on vacation already, near him, so I took the extra step and went right to his house.  And guess what? Nothing gay happened! Duh. :P

There's a big difference from my relationship with Newby/Hitmen/etc. and the kind of relationship you're discussing.  We're friends, just like male friends I have in real life, nothing else.

And btw, I wouldn't be at all surprised if that story was an urban myth.
