Metasploit 2.3 Released!
« on: January 12, 2005, 12:48:16 pm »
For anybody who hasn't heard of it, Metasploit (www.metasploit.com) is a opensource Perl-based/Plugin-based remote exploitation program.  It comes with a collection of exploits and payloads (more can easily be added) that can be loaded and run against a target machine.  I had some fun with it at work, I set up an unpatched Windows XP box and owned it in various ways (seeing if I could get around our Intrusion Prevention appliances).  It's a neat program, and I'd like to learn more about it eventually.

You spelled it incorrectly in your post, I believe. And have you checked to see if it's safe? Also, purely for Linux computers, or what?

Yes, I did.

Yes, it's safe.  It's opensource, and fairly popular.

And it should work on any platform witih Perl installed.  You can get Perl for Windows, Unix, and MacOS9+

Win32 Perl blows sideways 8 directions out the ass.  (Trust me.)
