Lets try again.
« on: December 03, 2005, 11:12:06 pm »
My motives for reposting this thread
1) The old topic was filled with flames, and totally off topic.
2) The old topic was old. I know for a fact (well, it was implied, ok?) that xex's opinion on me has changed. I don't know MyndFyre's previous opinion, but me and him have conversed more lately, and we're getting along, so eh?

My motives for rejoining
1) deadly, the main person who had a problem with me.. still does, I think, but much less (we converse in the channel every so often)
2) The same reason as before, when I first joined. x86 is a wonderful group of people, who are people I'd like to associate with.
3) I can moderate off-topic. Go blaze for reminding me.
4) I can spam post in the bunker of pie instead of everywhere else.

My motives for...
There was a third section, but I forgot what it was.

You're almost up there Joe, just less comments like you being moderator of the offtopic forum might be helpful. :)

Joe, my opinion of you since you've been voted out has not changed much.  Neither has my vote.

However, I'm glad to see you have the perseverance to try again.

Just because he didn't lock the thread doesn't mean he likes you.  He possesses the discipline necessary to refrain from doing such a childish thing.

I like Joe, and always have.  He's active, he tries to be helpful, and he's very friendly.

He is very good at taking criticism, which is a rare trait.  He doesn't mind being told he's wrong.  For example, he didn't take being removed from the clan really badly.  And since then, he's been a lot better, in my opinion.

He's young, but he's growing up, and he's definitely going places.  Many of you were in his shoes years back, I'm sure.

But perhaps the best trait of all: he's active.  He comes here every day, and interacts with the members and non-member.  Being active and friendly are the best qualities in a member, and Joe definitely fits those.

He would absolutely have my support for re-joining.

I don't really mind it when you post random stuff Joe.  I really don't like it when people bother people with stupid stuff (Yeah, I'm a hypocrit), when people tell you to leave them alone, you don't go and poke the bear.

Haha yeah, that was my own problem.  If somebody doesn't like you, DON'T BUG THEM.  That's just acting childish, and starting fights.

I don't have any major problem with Joe, though.  I think he's very often treated unfairly, and he takes it well.  I respect that, always have.

@Sidoh: It was a joke. I know that deadly would lock this, even if he did hate me. He has me blocked on AIM (probably because hes too lazy to unblock =p), but we talk in the channel, so as I said once before, I would consider us pseudofriends.

@iago: I've been trying not to start things with deadly. I don't have major problems with anyone else in the clan, really.

I completley agree with you there, and I myself was once in his shoes. I know that since I joined this clan I have matured (I cant judge how much). I would vote yes for joe to join x86, for the same reasons iago likes him, and we get along pretty well (except him calling me at 12:30am last night <3 (jk!) )

well lets see, I went to a formal, got home around 12, took off my tux, crashed at 12:15, you call me at 12:30. I was already tired when I went into my bed, but then you (kinda) woke me up!

Anyhow, I actually am in school, and I guess you are too. Yeah, I'm in computer literacy and a week ahead, so eh, might as well waste time use time wisely.

Nope, I'm at home.  I was only supposed to have 2 classes today:
1. We already had the final, so I stopped going
2. He's done teaching material, so he gave us the last class off

Tomorrow, I have my normal 3 classes, and then a presentation.

Then I have 3 exams, over the next 2 weeks.

Personally, Joe, I think that's a pretty stupid request.  I think they only way you're going to regain members' respect is submissively, through your "global" actions, not by your personal persuasion.

Well, as you can see, I really want to join x86. As iago knows, I was anxious to hear the results of the vote, too. I'm kinda disapointed in myself that I couldn't get 75% of the clan to vote yes, but the 9 abstains left me very little margin of error.

I didn't want to persuade them, but to ask them why they voted the way that they did, and perhaps try to work on that aspect of my character.
I'd personally do as Joe suggests

You might be right about that, Joe.

I'd bet that you're currently bloated like a water ballon on a hot summer's day.

That analogy doesn't even make sense.  Why would a water balloon be especially bloated on a hot summer's day? For your sake, I hope there wasn't too much logic testing on your LSAT.

I believe Newby told you the results, you must have gotten the order mixed up:
9 yes - 5 no - 4 abstain

I'm sure if you give it time, you'll have a chance.  It really did come down to the last couple people :)

Still, 4 abstains leaves little margin for error.  And actually, since there are 20 members and 2 didn't vote, that's actually 6 abstains.

25% of 14 is 3.5; only 4 no's would have taken Joe out of the running at that rate of abstention.  Had everybody voted, it would have taken 6 no's.  (25% of 20 is 5, but to get in you only need 75% of the vote, so it would have taken one more no for complete elimination).

All of which makes perfect sense.

If I wanted it to be easier to join, I would have made it 66%, like vL.  Or, I wouldn't have allowed abstains, and not ended the vote until there are enough yes's or no's.

But the way we're doing it now work perfectly ine.

I don't think I disagreed with you....

Ah, it sounded like there was some subtext regarding abstains being an issue, since we privately discussed it recently :)

I guess it was an explanation, not a complaint.

Complaint (against you) withdrawn.
