Logarithm Questions
« on: December 12, 2005, 05:11:55 pm »
Here are some questions I'd like answered:

Rewrite as a single log:

Rewirte the expression in a form with no log of a product, quotient(?, can't read my writing), or power:

Then for this equation answer these questions: (I did a+b, but I don't know how to do a)

Equation:

t=years since 1990
n(t) is measured in millons

a) relative rate of growth in rat population as %
b) what was population in 1990
c) 2002?

Also, if you have time:

Graph: 4^x and

(should be inverse graphs)

I need what values they're increasing and decreasing

Thanks much.

No, calculus sucks.
I'd personally do as Joe suggests

You might be right about that, Joe.

Logarithms aren't Calculus...

Trust, I'd help you out, but I'm doing my homework right now too.  Maybe later.  :)

Damn you. Those were questions on a quiz I didn't finish (quizzes are open notes) and we're finishing it today. Ugh, you suck. I even used MathType!

Sorry. :(

Nice on the MathType, though. :)

Trust, don't you have a book?  And why didn't you write this kind of stuff down in your notes?

I would help you, but I don't feel like finding that math type thing, and even if I did I am at school and I couldn't use it..  So the most help I can give you is some advise.  And that advise is, write down what your teacher writes up on the board (or w/e he/she uses to give you notes) and then use your book to help you on things you don't understand.

P.S.
On your first two, remember that + = multiplication and - = division.  And don't forget to the rules that go along with logs!!
The once grove of splendor,
Aforetime crowned by lilac and lily,
Lay now forevermore slender;
And all winds that liven
Silhouette a lone existence;
A leafless oak grasping at eternity.

MathType is just a program to display mathematical formulae and equations.  He only used it to make his visual aids more readable.  You don't need it in order to ask (or answer) questions revolving around mathematics, nor do you have to have it in order to answer questions that have material created with MathType.

Hope you did alright, Trust. :)

Hey by the way I had notes on this. Why wouldn't I? They were just ones that I couldn't figure out the first time.

After looking at them today though I was able to figure them all out. My notes on log properties were just written out in a confusing way but after sitting down and looking at the problems/notes I was able to connect them and I'm pretty sure I got them all right. If not, at least I'm 95% sure I got the entire 1st page+most of back right. :P

Logarithms are more Algebra 2/Trigonometry, aren't they?

This is Pre-Calculus (with limits :P)

Logarithms aren't very applicable in Trigonometry... I remember doing them in Algebra, but we re-visited the topic (much to my dismay; soon to be immediate realization that it was easy as hell) in Pre-Calculus.
