Ironicly the same thing happened with XP, can't find video though.
One must ask oneself: "do I will trolling to become a universal law?" And then when one realizes "yes, I do will it to be such," one feels completely justified.

--The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, The Restaurant at the end of the universe

I think everyone knows what he's talking about!  If not, they should be shunned.

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is the name of the first book in the Trilogy Hitchhiker's Trilogy.  The name of the first book isn't the name of the Trilogy.  Also, unTactical's quote is from Hitchhiker's Guide, not The Restaurant at the End of the Universe, I'm pretty sure.

Been a while since I've read it.  The books weren't all that you guys crack them up to be, in my opinion.  Nothing like Lord of the Rings or the Inheritance Trilogy.  Though there was some sweet sweet irony in HGTTG, it didn't keep me through the whole thing like the aforementioned books did.  I did read the whole series, but it took longer then it would have had it enticed me.

They shouldn't be compared to serious books, as they're not supposed to be serious.  They revolve around "intelligent humor."

And, most geek humor revolves around them.

I know they're not supposed to be serious and all, but I found it a bit hard to stay INTO it.  I liked the first book a lot (favorite out of the series) but then I just thought the books went downhill in their quality.  Also, are you implying with the words "intelligent humor" that I'm stupid? :-P

So then why are you relating them to serious books?! :P

And no, I'm not.  I was simply categorizing the type of humor the series uses.

I wasn't relating them, I was just saying that other books kept me wanting to read whereas HGTTG didn't.  Freakonomics (latest thread in me forums) keeps me entertained [almost done with it] and it's a satirical book that also sheds light on things.

If you weren't relating them, what would you call that? :P

I thought the whole movie sucked. I was too busy making out with my old GF at the time to really watch it. I thought the"42" thing was quite random and stupid.

Like I said, it's intelligent humor.  If you can't appreciate that kind of humor, then you won't like the series; that's pretty much a given.

Incidentally, it seems to me like you shouldn't be judging the movie if you were suckfacing the entire time.  I think it would be a poorly based oppinion. :)
