(Not so) new computer!
« on: December 16, 2005, 12:14:22 pm »
I've had this one sitting on my office desk for a while, doing nothing. The day has come, bretheren, when lumberjack shall rule the world!

No, seriously. lumberjack is an old Compaq Prolinea, which is going to be my home server. To view the glory that is it, clickith thine mouse upon this!

I'm installing OpenBSD 3.8 right now. iago's away doing some homework or studying or something educational like that, but I think I can handle this, and if I can't, I'll wait (he'll be back in an hour). I don't have a working CD drive in it, so I'll install over FTP.
I'd personally do as Joe suggests

You might be right about that, Joe.

A slew of hardware upgrades..

30GB hard drive, which was removed from JoeMomma when I got my 120GB HD.
CD Burner to replace the old broken CD Drive, which was also taken from JoeMomma, when I installed my leet DVD Superdrive.
Some old NIC I had laying around.

I think I'm going to have to go with Debian instead. OpenBSD = UGH.

EDIT -
CD problem is fixed! Now on to the next one, it doesn't detect the 30GB HD at all. =((.

EDIT -
Thanks to Smart BootManager, I managed to boot puppylinux from a CD. I don't feel like dealing with the HD problem, so I'll stick in a 2.5GB disk.
