Don't tell anybody how fast .NET is!
« on: February 24, 2006, 05:57:47 pm »
From Microsoft:

Quote
Can I benchmark the Microsoft .NET Framework?

Yes. As per the licensing agreement customers can setup and run their own
benchmarks of the .NET framework for technical evaluation purposes. You may
not disclose the results of any benchmark test of the .NET Framework to any
external third party outside your organization without Microsoft's prior
written approval.
You can e-mail benchnet@microsoft.com for more specific
details on obtaining this approval.

The explanation is simple: Microsoft is a privately owned company and they can do what they want.

Hahaha. My analysis teacher also teaches AP Computer Science and she was talking about how people should take it and this one kid was like "java is for losers learn a real langauge" and this other kid who is friends with kid1 was like "it's not? what's a good one?" and kid1 said "unix"

that reminded me of that. lolz.

They just don't want people saying that a certain release is slower, because it's not done.  Would you want people saying your unfinished product isn't going amazingly fast, before it's done?
And like a fool I believed myself, and thought I was somebody else...

Bam.

Additionally, they can do whatever they want. Let's all laugh at our favorite hero's misinterpretation of the GPLv3

One must ask oneself: "do I will trolling to become a universal law?" And then when one realizes "yes, I do will it to be such," one feels completely justified.

You said "additionally," meaning you were adding something to the thread.  It had already been said... :P

I don't see anything which would make me mad.

Incidentally, I think that Blaze's reason sucks.  See, .NET IS a finished product.

Hehe, yep.

I seriously found it humerous that you have to obtain a license to run benchmark tests on .NET.
