Dell to use Linux Desktop?
« on: February 25, 2006, 10:15:22 am »
"Is Dell is on its way to becoming the first tier-one PC vendor to offer a mainstream business Linux desktop to US customers? ...the PC maker may be quietly becoming the first major player to offer easy and relatively affordable way to buy a modern business Linux desktop in the United States. "

I think it's pretty cool giving users an alternative to Windows. As much as I like Windows I think this is a good idea.
One must ask oneself: "do I will trolling to become a universal law?" And then when one realizes "yes, I do will it to be such," one feels completely justified.

IIRC (from a post Stealth made a year ago or so) Dell has offered Linux for a while now, as stated in the news article.

I'd love to see Linux go mainstream. If it gets terrible in the exploits and such, it may be motivation to finally re-install to FreeBSD! :D

I'd bet that you're currently bloated like a water ballon on a hot summer's day.

That analogy doesn't even make sense.  Why would a water balloon be especially bloated on a hot summer's day? For your sake, I hope there wasn't too much logic testing on your LSAT.

Hm, from what I had seen it had only advertised Windows. Maybe we will start seeing it being packaged and advertised using some Linux flavor.

Haha, didn't know that.  That's pretty nice. :)

Even though it's awesome they're doing this, most users that use Linux will want to install it themselves anyway.

Current Linux users aren't goinig to care about this.  It's new Linux users that this can benefit.
