Metal-Fest
« on: March 15, 2006, 09:36:13 pm »
Although I think it's mostly local bands, they're having a 2-day metal show at a local venue:

March 31 METALFEST Featuring: Dreadnaut, Torn Into, The Lifeless Design & Damascus
April 1 METALFEST Featuring: Augury & Unexpect (Montreal), Port Amoral, Dream Quest & Lykeum

Anybody heard of any of them?  I know Dreadnaut, but I don't know any others.

Plus, March 31 is my birthday, so it's the perfect day to make my friend come with me :)

Haven't heard of any of them. Must be Canadian bands?

I think augury and damascus are lke progressive death or something, out of those bands I've only heard of those two  and dreadnaut. Torn Into and The Lifeless Design have really crappy names, and judging a book entirely by it's cover they suck.

But anyways, assuming it's not very expensive, go for it.

I'd bet that you're currently bloated like a water ballon on a hot summer's day.

That analogy doesn't even make sense.  Why would a water balloon be especially bloated on a hot summer's day? For your sake, I hope there wasn't too much logic testing on your LSAT.

$7.99, I think?  Plus, it's my birthday, so guess who isn't paying? :)

You gave a pretty good reason right there! :P

For 7.99 it would be a waste of money not to go :)

Mmm, tonight was the first night.  It was friggin' awesome.  I saw:
Torn Into, The Lifeless Design & Damascus

We left before Dreadnaut because we wanted to watch a movie and stuff.

Damascus is a local band, only been around for a month.  They're borderline grind.

The Lifeless Design wasn't bad, they were also pretty grind-like.  The singer was really strong, he could go really high and then really low, which gave it a really cool sound.

Torn Into was amazing!  I don't know what style they are, but they sorta reminded me of a cross between Slipknot/Killswitch Engage, or something.  I very much enjoyed it.  If you can, find their cd!  (Sadly, their only site is shitty myspace, but at least you can hear a sample of their music there.... :-/

Incidentally, they're all local, which made the show pretty cool.  Plus, we went early before they started charging cover, so we got in for free! :)
