On/in my desk, I have a rubber band, pair of scissors, several small metal pieces, some of them livestrong bands, a necklace, a chopstick, several pens/pencils, several pieces of paper, a CD mailer from iago, a wallet, several smaller books, some DVD cases (if I read a BIG book), some CDs, some more CDs, and where the hell did my hammer go?

PS: I have two sticks of RAM in a drawer, one sitting on my desk somewhere (256MB, woo!), and a BOX full of sticks (2, 4, and 8MB).
I'd personally do as Joe suggests

You might be right about that, Joe.

Screw bookmarks... I use the "I don't remember reading this...." method!

Btw, I use to have tons of sticks of RAM, if you have a really big book... I have a Sound Blaster 8...
I'll take that sound card.
Seriously.

Nice idea, but what in the hell are you reading?

"Eventually, the cow would be found.  It was that much of a page-turner. Of course, some suspense was lent by the fact that all other animals were prsented in some way that could have confused a kitten, who perhaps had been raised in a darkened room.  The horse was standing in front of a hatstand, as they so often did , and the hipo was eating at a trough against which an upturned pitch...."

Wtf?

I'm not entirely sure, but my best guess is Prattchet.

I knew I could count on you! :-D

I even turned it to the page where he's reading his son his bedtime story, "where's my cow?"

They mention hippos sometimes because they're an important symbol in their city.  The city was founded by two brothers who were abandoned as babies and raised by a mother hippo.

I used to use an old Phone Bill to force my mom to get me the bookmark I wanted. (I was little, psh)

Lol, that's a different story.. It sort of sounds like the story about the guy who was raised by wolfs, but instead now it's a hippo. :D
The once grove of splendor,
Aforetime crowned by lilac and lily,
Lay now forevermore slender;
And all winds that liven
Silhouette a lone existence;
A leafless oak grasping at eternity.

Yup, it's a parody of the story of Romulus and Remus.  Romulus killed Remus and founded Rome. :)

Generally, I use whatever happens to be laying around for a bookmark.  More often than not, I just memorize the page number or just go back and flip until I stop recognizing text.

Ah!! That's the word "parody". :D  I couldn't think of it. :D

I just look until I don't recognize text anymore. :D

I just finished the book today.  The last line in it is, "where's my cow?"  Very appropriate :)

But that's a real stick of ram, not old crap.

I discovered that a stick of ram I had sitting on my desk (good ram, but only 64mb) was the perfect size to use as a bookmark!  What a lucky day!
It's a little nerdy of you, personally I use an Ace of Spades as my bookmark. :)

If I were to use any "real" ram for something, it'd look like this:)

My keychain ram is 2mb of le crap.  It's part I grab when I take it somewhere, Towelie, it's just there to take up space.  I follow the 3 key maximum law too.  :)
And like a fool I believed myself, and thought I was somebody else...

Dear Blaze:

I hate you.
