More specifically, it's lying about someone in a negative sense, IE ruining their good name or destorying their reputation.

However, I agree that speaking out against your school is disrespectful towards it, and it's not appropriate.  Speaking out against your president is also disrespectful towards him, but if he is evil or bad then he deserves it.
I call BS.  If the school is bad then the school deserves the criticsm too

No, it's lying about somebody orally in an attempt to damage their reputation.  That's the key distinction of slander from libel (which is lying about somebody in print).

In any case, I doubt he lied about the president in an attempt to destroy his reputation.

....& there we have libel.
Libel is written defamation, slander is spoken.....they mean the same excepet libel is probably worse because there is proof.

I know.  I was adding on to the definition that already existed. :P

I thought you were correcting me, because I said basically the same thing, "I doubt that GameSnake orally said to you any false claims about the president in order to damage his (the president's) reputation [...]"

To go further off topic: The media ruined the the president's reputation, not me.
Again I am wondering what the president's reputation has to do with anything about this news article?

Just because the Media says something doesn't mean you should run around repeating it.

MyndFyre already explained the relationship.  Go read his posts again. .

Anyways, why didn't this guy try to tell the school administration about the rules being broken before lying about his speech?  Seriously, he could have told the principal about the drugs and cheating.  In my opinion, he did this to get his five minutes of fame.

I don't get it.
I have a programming folder, and I have nothing of value there

Perhaps it reflects the commonly held belief that the only way to pass with fly colors is to cheat.  Therefore, if you're not cheating, you're not doing your best.

Ok for one thing, blaming the president's bad reputation on me is very wrong, the media is the biggest contributor to "slandering" his reputation, not me.  Another thing is that this topic is not even about the president, who cares about the fucking president?! Why is everything a political debate?!

GameSnake, I have not used the word "reputation."  I don't know where you're coming up with that.

Please read what I have said about why what you have said about the President is relevant to this conversation.
