MY bookshelf
« on: June 24, 2006, 01:20:40 pm »
Inspired by Joe, I took some pictures of my bookshelf.  Eventually I'm going to enter my books into the computer, but for now you have to live with the pictures:

Hey, I started the bookshelf trend. :(  And that's not fair, yours is bigger.  I have way more books than will fit in mine (as you can see by me having to put on the ground/stack on top of each other).

If you look carefully, I also have a lot of books on top of each other.  And we have boxes of crappy books, I only keep good books on my shelf.

Yeah but you also have extra room for those books. :p  If I stack books in my thing like you did the top board eventually starts to hang down and that's bad.  I have probably three boxes more of books that I actually read and then a closet next to my water lines down here with books I used to read when I was five (i.e. Power Rangers books) that I haven't gotten rid of/cleaned out yet.

Where are your Douglas Adams books? :(

Those magnets are fucking strong, I pinched my fingers on accident with them. XD

I see Starcraft!

I don't own H2G2.  I got it from the library when I read it.  I'd buy it, but it's too mainstream these days..

HG2TG. :P
If you want to buy it go to a store like "Border's".  I'm pretty sure there's one in Winnipeg.  They sell it for $15USD the whole thing.

I can get it, that's not the problem.  But I don't like to get books that everybody is reading, it bothers me.

And I normally see it "H2G2", for HitchHikers Guide to the Galaxy.  Since you don't generally include "to" and "the" in an abbreviation, it makes more sense to me.

Hm.  I always abbreviate it HG2TG.  Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy. :\

That's the book I'm currently reading.  It's really good.  Early-20th century horror > *

It was the movie which sucked!  I was reading it before it went mainstream though. :)

You don't capitalize to, the, a, and, etc... in book titles or include them in abbrivations n00b.

Applications for Windows

iago! I can't believe you! But I forgive you for using IBM DOS > MSDOS.
I'd personally do as Joe suggests

You might be right about that, Joe.

Richter's book is a great book if you want to learn about OS stuff, like threads and processes and mutexes and semaphores and all that.  It may teach them in Windows, but it applies in all modern OSes.  Also, I got the book before I ever started using Linux.
