Unholy Alliance Tour
« on: July 07, 2006, 09:53:09 pm »
It's Sunday!  I'm so excited :)

SLAYER with LAMB OF GOD, MASTODON, CHILDREN OF BODOM and THINE EYES BLEED

I know I've posted about it before, but it seemed so far away.  and it's almost here!! :D

I'll let you know how it went afterwards.  Somehow, though, I doubt I'll enjoy it as much as smaller shows.  But it should still be cool!

I hear Lamb of God puts on an amazing show, and is close to the highlight.

At least the first tour date reviews said they did. Heh.

Have fun! Mosh a hardcore kiddie for me!

I'd bet that you're currently bloated like a water ballon on a hot summer's day.

That analogy doesn't even make sense.  Why would a water balloon be especially bloated on a hot summer's day? For your sake, I hope there wasn't too much logic testing on your LSAT.

Mmm, it owned.

It wasn't nearly as fun as a small venue, which I expected.  The entire performance seemed very rigid, and practiced, so when something odd happened (a shirt on the monitor, a glowstick on the stage, etc) they totally ignored it.  And the stuff they say between songs sounds so fill-in-the-blank-style, "It's great to be here in *checks back of guitar* Winnipeg!"

But other than that, the music itself was awesome.  The bands were, in the order they played:
Thine Eyes Bleed, Mastodon, Children of Bodom, Lamb of God, Slayer

And all I can say is that in terms of goodness, it was something like:
Children of Bodom > * > Mastodon
The other three, I can't really compare.

But it really seemed like Slayer didn't fit in with the other bands.  Slayer is way 80's, and the rest of them are newer, and of a totally different style/sound.

Also, Slayer didn't do the scream at the beginning of Angel of Death.  I was upset about that. :(

Uhh, Kerry King's nu-metal loving attitude and their touring around with Slipknot and such hasn't destroyed their 80's feel while they're on stage? That's good.

They come out here July 20th. I don't think I'll be going. Which depresses me. :/

Newby - 21st in Mesa, which = you, right?

20th for muffin, already got tickets. Going with my guitarist, whos a total Slayer fanboy.

I really expect some good solos out of Children of Bodom, and am going to kinda stay away from Slayer pits. I prefer my teeth in my mouth. Plus, Im pretty light/small and would get thrown around pretty easily =).

I'm gonna do the scream in the beginning of Angel of Death, I've already decided that much. But the Slayer setlist looks awesome, and I can't wait.

Slayer didn't even do the scream!  They didn't do ANY good screams!  I was so upset :(

I was also sort of sad that they did Angel of Death last, and they didn't even pretend to leave or anything.

I'd be more worried about Lamb of God's pit than Slayer's.

And yeah, Bodom is freakin' amazing.

That was a GREAT show. The Slayer part, anyway.

I was up on the guard rail the whole time.. less than 5 feet from the band. It was awesome.

Me and Titan (newer member) were both hanging out up front for the whole show, until Slayer played Seasons in the Abyss and two guys split us up (fuckin' huge guys). A few minutes later, they forced him over the rail, so he had to go back into the crowd. =(

CoB put on a ~ decent show. I was expecting alot more. Lamb of God exceeded my expectations *20. Groove metal is always fun live. Thyne Eyes Bleed was pretty bad. IMO, the worst. Mastodon wasn't too bad, had some fun riffs. Slayer was pwncakes to the max. From Necrophilia to Antichrist, I had some chick trying to rape my ass, but before Angel of Death started, I pushed her off. Rather violently. I didn't realize it was a she. =\. Angel of Death kicked ass, though. He did do the scream, as did I. =). Holocaust footage = perfect backdrop.

And more evidence of muffin's homosexuality arises..... :P

Damnit!  I was looking forward to the scream and didn't get it.  How upsetting :(

And yeah, the backdrops for most of the songs were awesome. :)

Did they at least do it as an encore?  Or even tell you it was the last song?  It always seems so sudden when they finish a song then leave..

Chick = female, muffin = male. male + female = heterosexual, even if she is trying to rape my ass. I pushed her off of me, anyway.

No, they didn't announce that AoD was their last song, they really didn't do any talking between songs, which, I guess, is appropriate. In that, they don't seem like a touchy feely, I <3 the crowd, type band.

The problem was that you pushed her away :P

I like bands that, at the very least, acknowledge the audience :/

Welp, I tried to get in. When we pulled up Lamb of God had just started (I hear they open with Ruin, and I recognized the song), and we walked around for people scalping tickets.

$150 a ticket? No fucking thanks.

Oh well. :P

It was pretty funny. Two guys bought scalped tickets; one guy jumped in the air and shouted "FUCK YEAH" as loud as he could, and was cheering all the way up to security. We just laughed.

Hahah, that also means he got a pretty shitty spot on the floor for Slayer. Considering I had to fight for ~4 hours to get my front row spot, and just about lost it. =)

Hah, I could have had front-row easy++, between bands people milled a lot.  But floor seats were sold out by the time I got my ticket (about an hour after they went on sale), but I got a super kick-ass seat!

I've seen tons of bands from the front row. Slayer, exodus, king diamond, dragonforce, nile, bodom... pretty much every concert I go to I get up against the barrier. It's easy once you learn how to move around people.
