By working at a beer store, I have a pretty good idea of which IDs count (in Canada).  The only IDs that are worth anything are government-issued photo ID.  That's something like:
- Driver's License
- Liquor Commission card
- Native Card
- Meti Card
- Armed Forces ID
- International Student ID

My mom has been working as a bartender recently. Aside from the native card/meti card which are probably some weird canada thing, and I'm not sure about the international student ID, the only other thing you can use is a passport, iirc.

A beard (guys) and big tits (girls) are often other valid forms of ID.  Non-officially speaking, of course.

Not where I worked.  We had the policy of ID'ing anybody who we think looks 30 or younger.
