I think it's a step in the right direction.  Movies are obviously going to end up being downloaded online, so why not try to make money off it? 

On a sidenote, this can cause the internet's bandwidth to become far too saturated if it becomes popular, so the anti-net-neutrality people might have a good point.  Make the studios pay!

But I'd also worry about the type of DRM that they have -- am I going to be able to play them on my computer?  Move them to another computer if this one breaks?  Burn it to a DVD to watch it with my friends?

If I can see it or hear it, I can copy it. You can't stop me with DRM.

Yeah. They have the money and funding to spend tons of time to make the game freakin' perfect. They also have to meet basic standards of coding so the product doesn't blowover and they lose all the money they poured into the game. Basically, the better they do, the more $$ they make.

Open-source/free games really have no motivation or funding to make the game great. It's all done in the spirit of fun and probably done in their free time, since programming an open-source game doesn't bring in income...

I imagine it isn't even the programming involved that makes open-source games difficult.  It's the modeling and texturing.

There are lots of open-source 3D engines out there.  Finding great models - it's like finding you a date.
