If it's made out of steel, you'd really have to worry about shrapnel, wouldn't you?
not if its thick enough.
Also, if you put the combustion chamber inside of another containment thing then the shrapnel will hit that & not your eye

Good ideas, all. Most hairspray cannons are made of PVC or ABS plastic. Steel would be much less likely to fragmentate, but if it did... Ouch. I usually dont take risks like that. When I was testing my air powered steel one, I hooked it up to the compressore (at 0 psi) and put it outside on the left side of my garage. I then turned the breaker to the garage off, turned the compressor on, went to the right side of my garage and flipped the breaker back on. You can call it overcautious, but Im still alive. =)

When I lost the power cable for a pair of speakers that were pieces of junk anyhow, I used my universal power cable thing, set it to 30volts, and hooked it to a power strip. Flipped the power strip on, BOOM. I'm also alive.
I'd personally do as Joe suggests

You might be right about that, Joe.

I guess I could see how that could possibly be related.. in that you are still alive. And so am I. Anything other than that I might be missing?

I'd bet that you're currently bloated like a water ballon on a hot summer's day.

That analogy doesn't even make sense.  Why would a water balloon be especially bloated on a hot summer's day? For your sake, I hope there wasn't too much logic testing on your LSAT.
