I had to buy a 56k modem today, and something funny happened. I figured I'd share it here.
So on my way home, I stopped at CBIT (Computer Boulevard IT). It's my favorite local computer store, and like most places they have one of those alarm things that try and stop you from stealing stuff.
Anyway, like I said, I had to find a 56k modem, and I had no idea where they are. So I wandered around, and eventually saw them. I walked up, looked at the price tags, and grabbed the cheapest one. Just as I was picking it up, this guy comes up behind you and says "I need to take your bag" (I was wearing a backpack, which never left my back). I said, "I'm on my way out", and he said "I have to take it", so whatever, I gave it to him, we walked to the front. While he was filing my bag away on a table, I was standing there waiting to buy the one little thing. So he serves me, and I pay for it. Finally, he hands me my bag AROUND the alarm thing!! I guess he just wanted to either:
a) slow me down, or
b) make sure that if I WAS stealing anything, I could easily get away with it.
