Blizzard doesn't allow numbers or capital letters (except at the beginning of a name) by default.

Actually, if you transfer characters and your name is already taken, it generates random numbers and letters at the end of your name.  I thought it was funny to randomly get 69FACE.  :P

They put the numbers there so it viloates the name and makes you pick a new one.  I'm Maide now.  :(
