Do they like Alternative Rock?
The once grove of splendor,
Aforetime crowned by lilac and lily,
Lay now forevermore slender;
And all winds that liven
Silhouette a lone existence;
A leafless oak grasping at eternity.

yeah.

they're all big into indie (which you can classify ALOT of different styles under just because they have no major label which is the stupidest genre ever)

Indie, huh?  My best friend is obsessed with Indie music and he knows about every band. :P

I am not going to take all of his music, but here are a few bands:

Islands, Destroyer, Liars, Suburban Kids with Biblical Names, Modest Mouse, Ugly Casanova, The Unicorns, Imperial Teen, Enon, Clem Snide, Silver Jews, YYYs, Deer Hoof, The Octopus Project, Peaches, Nick Drake, Test Icicles, Do Make Say Think, The Cornn 'Gangg, Matt Costa, !!!, John Lennon, Vashti Bunyan, The Get Up Kids, Part Chimp, Of Montreal, Stereo Total, The Sea and Cake, Holopaw, Pavement, Diplo, The Fiery Furnaces.

You want music that people can listen to instead of talking or while talking?

I think Collective Soul is a really good band for driving music when you want something that you can actually carry a conversation over.  Cold, Bush, Foo Fighters, Stone Temple Pilots, etc all fit into that category IMO.

Edit: Gah! How could I forget Seether!  Thanks for reminding me Brandon

Bitch.

No death metal? WTF? Fine. I'll do everything but death/black metal.

How about some good ol' Judas Priest? Screaming for Vengeance? Painkiller? Unleashed in the East? British Steel?!?!!?!

Iron Maiden, anyone? Seventh Son of a Seventh Son? Tne Number of the Beast?

Mercyful Fate? Evil, but still very awesome. The first two albums should do you well.

Perhaps something a little faster is up yer alley... Megadeth? Rust in Peace? Peace Sells... But Who's Buyin?

Not something extremely fast, but something more riff-oriented but still enjoyable. Metallica's first two albums! Anthrax's first two albums! Perhaps their second and third, I'm not a fan of Fistful of Metal. But it is a decent album. Lots of albums could go here. "Forbidden Evil" by Forbidden, Fabulous Disaster by Exodus, The Ultra-Violence by Death Angel, Coma of Souls by Kreator. Some Xentrix perhaps?

Or if you want complete riff monsters, the albums "Schizophrenia" by Sepultura, "Spectrum of Death" by Morbid Saint, "Darkness Descends" by Dark Angel are all awesome thrash metal albums that aren't death metal. At all. Well, maybe Sepultura just a little bit, but not that much, really.

Perhaps some punk-influenced thrash metal? Municipal Waste is an awesome band. Get the album "Hazardous Mutation" by them. Nuclear Assault is awesome as well. Game Over is damn good thrash metal with an attitude to boot. Overkill's first work (possibly their second) are pretty punk influenced as well.

Melodic thrash? Artillery! Get the album "By Inheritence", it's very melodic and rifftastic, yet thrashy and awesome at the same time.

More modern sounding thrash you say? Lamb of God is pretty decent groove metal. (1 groove = 1/2 thrash.) Pantera goes big time into groove metal, and does a good job of it. See the album "Vulgar Display of Power" for further details/examples. Artillery's last album "B.A.C.K." dabbles in groove and does a good job of it.

All that is off the top of my head. If I was home, I'd have you a much larger list of music that is good to drive to.

Note: thrash = speedy/up-beat = awesome driving music. Or at least awesome music to speed to. Today I got to speed to Slayer - Reign in Blood! :)

I'd bet that you're currently bloated like a water ballon on a hot summer's day.

That analogy doesn't even make sense.  Why would a water balloon be especially bloated on a hot summer's day? For your sake, I hope there wasn't too much logic testing on your LSAT.

I know first hand that Annihilator is great driving music. I greatly recomend you get some. I would offer some of my own, but.. fried hard drive.... Definately get some, it's like a much softer version of thrash with good vocals. Favorite albums are Never Neverland and Carnival Diablos.
